Wound treatment with cold plasma
Deitmerg U, Dittrich T. Wound treatment with cold plasma, The nurse (2023)
With PlasmaCare® , we have succeeded in developing a hand-held device for wound disinfection that uses cold atmospheric plasma (KAP). It is about the size and weight of an old telephone receiver and is battery-operated. PlasmaCare® can be used in clinical or private practice settings by medical and nursing staff as well as wound specialists.
PlasmaCare® is a handy medical device. It uses cold atmospheric plasma to inactivate microorganisms, including multi-resistant pathogens, and stimulate wound healing. The Nuremberg Nursing Practice Center has used the technology on a trial basis. According to the resident, every wound treatment was painless. Delayed healing occurred after the application of cold plasma therapy. During the wound healing phase, it waspossible to completely dispense with further antibiotics, although these had been included in the treatment plan. By ending the isolating measures, full participation in society was made possible again. Exercise in and out of bed was once again possible without restriction.
